A Police spokesman has confirmed that the shattering of an intricate worldwide internet-based paedophile ring has spared over 30 children from potential abuse. The site was run by an English man, Timothy Cox, who, in a sentencing which took place today, was described by the judge as being “obsessed with images of children being sexually abused”.
The links in the network were broken after police targeted the internet chatroom; a site powered by input from 700 members, from 35 countries. On there, these members would share and discuss images and films depicting thousands of children.
Evidence from the site, named “Kids the Light of Our Lives”, was compiled by officers prior to the formal arrest of its host – Timothy Cox. Having assessed his own computer, they found Mr Cox to be in possession of nearly 76,000 images of an explicit nature. Under the moniker of the “Son of God”, Mr Cox was instrumental in supplying thousands of these to those who frequented his site.
Having pled guilty to charges of possession – additionally, of distributing said images – Mr Cox’s sentencing, at Ipswich Crown Court, occurred today. There, Judge Peter Thompson admonished Mr Cox, stating: “These are shocking images which involve very young children - in the worst cases being subjected to sadistic, painful abuse which you, for some distorted reason, appear to take enjoyment from."
